2007 Annual Meeting A Great
Turning Point
2007
Reorganization Action
During much of the previous two
plus years the Board of Directors analyzed
and developed a plan of reorganization that would simplify the
decentralize the work of CPEAV. The plan called for changing our
structure from one based on Virginia PDC Districts to one based on fewer districts that are more closely related to areas
of community interest. Each of the districts could become the focus for delivery of unique services and programs oriented
to its special needs and assets.
The Board Executive Committee has now developed a final detailed plan
for 10 Districts it feels would best
carry out the wishes of the members as expressed last October. If you
have questions or suggestions, you are invited to contact the
Executive Director.

CPEAV Mission Statement
"The
Mission of Citizens Planning Education Association of Virginia (CPEAV) is to provide a variety
of planning based training programs to meet the needs of planning
commissions, boards of zoning appeals, governing bodies, advisory
boards, and private citizens in the Commonwealth of Virginia."
Updated. June 15, 2007
Certified Program News:
The March Certified PC and 2008
Certified Board of Zoning Appeals Program Registrations are both closed and the
Programs in Session. However, CPEAV
Director of Education, Dr.
Michael Chandler urges anyone who may be interested in obtaining training and
Planning Commissioner Certification in 2008 to enroll NOW and guarantee
your seat in CPC 60 that will begin in June or CPC 61 that will begin in
September.
Also, you may use our "prepayment program"
if training funds are available now but not expected to be during the coming
08-09 Fiscal Year. This program provides for a full refund and/or redirection of
your fees in the event they are not used as anticipated.

2008 Annual Conference
Visit the Annual Conference page and make note of the new information posted.
Mark your calendar and clear your schedule in preparation for your October 12-14
attendance at the Williamsburg Marriott Hotel. This will be the most
comprehensive, interesting and affordable (CPEAV has negotiated a special
reduced lodging rate) training event for citizens, professional planners
and interested citizens to be held in the Commonwealth during calendar
2008. It will also afford the opportunity to bring your family along for a
"mini vacation" in Historic Williamsburg.
Watch this space for your downloadable Registration Form to complete and submit.
