2008 Annual Meeting Will See Completion of Reorganization!

Final Reorganization Action -- we URGE you to please exercise your privilege as a CPEAV member to VOTE BY PROXY -- we need your vote very much! It is critical to our ability to continue to deliver the quality training we are dedicated to providing.

During much of the previous two plus years the Board of Directors analyzed and developed a plan of reorganization that would simplify the decentralize the work of CPEAV. The plan called for changing our structure from one based on Virginia PDC Districts to one based on fewer districts that are closely related to the various areas of community interest throughout the state. Each of the districts will have the potential to become the focus for delivery of unique services and programs oriented to its particular interests, special needs and assets. For example, this will begin in late November with a Certified Planning Commissioner course offering oriented to and being held in Loudoun County.

The Board Executive Committee has completed the final detailed plan for 10 Regions (click here) and the enabling changes to the Constitution and ByLaws it feels would best carry out the wishes of the members as expressed last October at the 2007 Conference and Annual Meeting. The Board is recommending their adoption.

The documents have been included in the early September Newsletter along with a PROXY BALLOT for your signature and return if you will be unable to attend the Annual Business meeting in Williamsburg. You can also participate in this decision by simply downloading and printing the documents for use from your home or office. Please consider this option and VOTE!

Documents, Map and Proxy Ballot Available for Download -- VOTE NOW

The proposed revisions to our Constitution and ByLaws are available by clicking here. A Proxy Ballot is available by clicking here. The new 10 Region Map is here.

The need for the proposed revisions is clearly evident -- one only needs to download and read a few lines to realize how needed your support of these changes is. It is easy to forget that we have renamed our Association and made several basic changes and this maintenance and update revision to our Constitution and ByLaws is necessary to "keep us up to date" in all aspects. Please take the necessary few minutes to check the documents out and vote your conscience. If you have questions or suggestions, you are invited to contact the Executive Director for straight talk answers.

2008 Certified PC Programs Graduate Seminar

The 2008 Certified PC Programs Graduate Seminar will be held Monday, December 15 at the popular centrally located Charlottesville Omni Hotel. The low cost this year will be a modest $110 -- a bargain for a timely update of the many changes and new techniques in the planning, growth and development fields. This is critical information needed by Certified Graduates, governing body members, staff, land use and zoning lawyers, appraisers, realtors and others who must keep up to date on evolving planning, legal and zoning techniques and other timely information regarding growth and development matters. Mark your calendar now and watch for the posting of a Registration Form in mid to late September.

Please be aware that the information to be presented is primarily oriented to the needs of the Certified Planning Commissioner, we heartily welcome Certified Boards of Zoning Appeals members as well as all others who could benefit by the knowledge to be gained at this important training opportunity.
